BUS no longer requires you to complete outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations before applying. Insulating first still makes practical sense because it reduces the heat pump size you need and lowers running costs, but it is not a grant eligibility condition.

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) runs until 31 December 2026 and can fund heating and insulation measures for lower-income households. Eligibility depends on your home's tenure, EPC rating, household income and qualifying benefits. ECO4 Flex is a council referral route, not a guaranteed funding stream. If you receive certain means-tested benefits and live in a poorly rated home, it is worth checking whether your energy supplier or local authority can refer you.
This England-only scheme targets private homes rated EPC D to G, usually where household income is at most £36,000. Qualifying benefits or postcodes can provide alternative routes.
